Welcome to Marc Yu's Homepage |
Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC) |
March 2004 |
I participate in the Classical Music Festival held by the MTAC, playing both piano and cello. I received excellent comments from both judges, Dr Junko Garrett and Dr Shun-Lin Chou, who is Piano Chair at Cal State University, Long Beach. I also pass the Certificate of Merit piano and cello exams (a state-wide music exam) with honor. I play a Mozart piano Sonata (something more advanced than the required repertoire) for my piano exam and receive 'Excellent' 5+ on both exams. I also got 100% on one of my theory tests and 99% on the other. As a result I am invited to play at the Annual MTAC State Convention in San Diego in June 2004. |

National Piano Guild Audition |
June 2004 |
On June 6th, I take my second 10-piece National Guild Piano Audition. Due to my school grade (kindergarten), I am forced to enter the Elementary level. But this time I am in the “Special” Section created for very young children who play intermediate to advanced pieces. I become a National Winner for the second time. |

It's costly, but I spent two weeks in Twin Lake, Michigan, for a Suzuki Music Camp where I study and performed chamber music. It was a lot of fun! |

On the Stage of the Ambassador Auditorium |
October 2004 |
On October 17, 2004, I made a sneak appearance on the stage of the legendary Ambassador Auditorium before its official re-opening. I played Prelude from Unaccompanied Cello Suite No.1 by J.S. Bach and Mozart C Major Piano Sonata, K.545, receiving standing ovations from the congregation of Harvest Rock Church, the new owners of this wonderful hall. They have invited me to play for them again in their hall in the near future. I have also been invited to appear as a guest artist with the Pasadena Young Musicians Orchestra. |
